New baby Eddie

Here is a nice and simple card I made for our friends new baby named Eddie. I had a baby card kit and decided to build off that. The card came with the kit and was patterned on the bottom 2/3 of the card with the top 1/3 white. The glitter "baby" word came with the kit. I attached it to the top with the pop dots included in the kit. I didn't like the ribbon that came with the kit so I added my own to the seam separating the patterned from the white. That was too plain so I decided to punch a hole in the bottom corner. I used Creative Memories 1 1/4 inch punch for that. Next I stamped the round itsy bitsy baby stamp from Stampin' Up on the inside of the card so that it could be seen when the card was closed. Trying to stamp in such a small space is exactly why I like clear stamps better. Rubber stamps are great for a lot of techniques, but sometimes a design just screams for clear!!! I then colored the baby with colored pencils. Done! Now I just have to get busy and wrap the gift so that they can go in the mail tomorrow. : )

CHF Autumn swap samples for August 2007

Here are two samples of my Autumn swaps for CHF. I made them all very similiar except that I inked the edges and papers with different Distress Inks. I used this idea so I could get rid of some of my scraps. All you do is punch 16 one inch circles per card and a 2"X 3" rectangle of coordinating paper. I rounded the corners on the rectangle and trimmed a little off to fit the space. Most of the papers are just patterned papers that were either left alone or punched with a leaf punch. There are a few that were stamped with the CHF trees backgrounder and then punched. The greeting is from Stampin' Up and the fence is from CHF. All circles and edges were inked with Distress Ink. The hardest part of this card was deciding what papers to use and what order to place them on the card. Once I got that figured out it was easy. I also used leftover circles on the envelopes.

CHF Glitter and Sparkle swap card August 2007

The scan of this card is horrible with the details of the card. I stamped the CHF Paisley backgrounder with Versamark on black cardstock. I embossed it with Irridescent Ice Embossing Powder from Stampin' Up. Next, I wrapped a sheer multi-colored ribbon around and attached on the back. I next mounted this large piece to a burgundy card. I then stamped a medallion onto the burgundy with Versamark and embossed it with Starry Night embossing powder. I cut the medallion out. I next stamped the initial with Versamark on black and embossed with Irridescent Ice again. I cut this out and mounted it onto the medallion. Then mounted the medallion to the card over the ribbon using dimensionals to pop the image up. It is really sparkly in person. Wish you could see it better. You will just have to try it yourself at home :) .

My grand-niece is turning 2 this month. I can't believe she is that old already. I love this stamp of a little girl with the butterfly. It is by Nancy Cole for Inkadinkado. I embossed it with black embossing powder. I used my water brush and water color pencils to color it. I actually picked up the color by rubbing the water brush tip across the lead of the pencil. I accented it with Stardust gel pens in clear and yellow. I antiqued the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I then layered it onto a piece of patterned paper which was mounted on a purchased green gingham card. The 2 (Scrappy Cat Clear) is stamped with chalk ink and accented with Stardust pens. I then punched it out with my circle punch. I also stuck on a dimensional butterfly sticker. The ribbon was already on the purchased card. I sure hope she has a great birthday way down there in Texas.

Megan's 9th Birthday

I made this card for my niece Megan's 9th birthday. You won't believe this BUT her last name is Crabb! How funny is that! My sister-in-law married a guy with that last name. When this stamp set came out by Stampin' Up I knew I had to have it. I actually used wallpaper samples for the background and first aid gauze for the mat behind the crab. I colored the images with colored pencils and Turpenoid. I accented with Stardust pens. I wish you could see the glitter from those pens. I hope she likes it!

Little Earle's 7th birthday card

I had to get my nephew, Earle's( named after our Dad), birthday present in the mail today so I whipped up a quick pirate card for him. He is pirate crazy! I actually used old wallpaper samples for my background papers for the card and under the map. The map stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms. The pirate ship and pirate dog are from Kat's stamping and scrapbooking. I antiqued all the paper and edges with Distress ink. I used colored pencils to fill in the details. The front verse was done on the computer. Inside verse says "Shiver me timbers, It be yer birthday!" which is a stamp by Kat's again. I sure hope he has a great birthday.
