Grandma's 90th Birthday

This is the card I made my Grandmother for her 90th birthday. The rose stamp is by Stampin' Up. I antiqued the rose background with Antique Linen ink from Tim Holtz Distress Inks. It is a joy fold card. The smaller purple piece with the rose on it opens from the left while the main card opens from the right. The verse is typed on the smaller purple card. It is hard to see, but I added glitter to the center of the rose. The inside was printed on the computer and antiqued with the same ink as the rose. I used number stamps from Printworks.

Aunt and Uncle's 50th Anniversary

I am going to my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary celebration this coming weekend in Wisconsin. I was kind of stumped for what to make on their card. Call me a rebel, but I just didn't want to do the same old "golden" color scheme that all their other cards would be done in. I found this paper while I was searching through my stash and loved the wording on it. Well, that started my unusual color scheme for this 50th anniv. card. I wanted to leave a lot of the wording showing so I kept the concept simple. I wrapped two sheer ribbons around the first patterned paper and attached on the back with two-sided tape. I then embossed the 50 in a dark green embossing powder. I used a number set from Technique Tuesday. I then die-cut the frame using my Sizzix machine. The only gold I used on the card was the gold brads in the corners of the frame. It still needed something else and I found a cardstock tag that fit the theme and attached it with a couple of Stampin' Up dimensionals. I threw in a flower for good measure. The base of the card is made from two-sided paper so that the inside isn't so boring either. I just downloaded a verse I liked and printed it in a burgundy ink. I also inked all the edges in pewter ink. Hopefully they will like it, as unusual as it is.

Christmas in July swaps for CHF

Here are examples of the two cards I made for the CHF Christmas in July swap. I decided to make 2 different cards as to not get so bored doing one. The wreath card was done using The Angel Company wreath stamp set, which was stamped in green and the accents were embossed in gold. I used my Creative Memories cutting system to make the circles. I used my Sizzix to cut the name plate.

The second card uses stamps from a Stampin' Up set. I stamped the penguin with black dye ink on white cardstock and then cut him out leaving a slight white margin. The snowy background was made with itty bitty backgrounds from Stampin' Up also. The greeting was stamped with versamark and embossed in black. The snow on the ground was created by tearing white cardstock and then accenting it with Stickles glitter glue in Diamond.

Here's hoping that you are all enjoying your summer!

Red, white and blue swap

Woo-Hoo! I got my July swaps done early for once. I have two examples of my red, white, and blue swaps. Can you see the difference? Yep. The only difference is the way the ribbon is attached to the card. The stamp is from a retired Stampin' Up set. I love this stamp for July 4th cards. It is simple but cute. I stamped it in Night of Navy ink by Stampin' Up onto white cardstock and trimmed into a square. I die-cut a tag out of red cardstock. I then mounted this on white and trimmed it, leaving a thin margin. I used star background paper and cut 1 x 4 inch strips. I mounted them evenly spaced onto the navy card. The tag layers are all mounted flat with double sided tape. I mounted the tag with Stampin' Up dimensionals. I added stars to the tag that I punched out of sparkle paper and attached with a glue stick. On one card I slipped the ribbons through the hole and made a slip knot. The other card I just stapled the ribbons on and attached a punched star on top. Hope you all enjoyed your 4th.

Here is my new little icon for myself. There is a cute site that you can create a cartoon image of yourself and download for FREE. I had put it on my header but it didn't look right so I just added to the side. The web address is http://www.blessthischick.com/. Enjoy!

Get well, Jakers!

I made this card for my nephew who is 18 months old. He is in the hospital with a severe respiratory infection. Luckily, my sister and her husband realized he was getting worse and rushed him to the hospital. He was in bad shape, but is doing better now. I used one of my House-Mouse stamps for this one. I colored it with colored pencils and blended with Turpenoid. I doodled a border around the perimeter of the card. I sure hope he gets to come home soon. We love you, Jakers!

July 4th tag

Here is one of the twenty tags that I made for the flowers that go to the local hospice. I used my Sizzix to die cut the large tag out of red cardstock. I then die cut more out of the red star paper. I trimmed off a smidgen so that it had the matted look. I then cut white rectangles and stamped the children's scene (Stampin' Up) with navy ink. I inked all the edges with navy also. I then tied red, white and blue ribbons onto the tag. Very patriotic, very easy! I also stamped "Happy 4th of July" (TAC) on the back side and added some stars (Stampin' Up). Both were stamped in navy. I only have the front side posted. Hope you all have a great 4th of July!
