Nephew's birthday

My nephew, Michael, has a birthday coming up so I had to get a card made and in the mail. He is a fireman so I wanted to make something using my Close to my Heart fireman set. I stamped the fire engine on a die-cut tag (Sizzix). I distressed the tag with Antique Linen Distress Ink by Ranger and Close to Cocoa ink by Stampin' Up. I stapled a ribbon to it. I then made a index tab from scratch and put two bronze brads on it. I attached it to the top right corner of the tag. I used dimensionals to attach the tag to the card which I had added patterned paper to and stamped flames from the same stamp set to the top half of the brown card. The words were typed on Word and printed on regular old printer paper using brown ink. I distressed with the same inks used on the front of the card. I then die-cut a fire engine for the inside corner(Sizzlets). I hope he enjoys his card and has a great birthday.

Sister's Birthday

Here is the card I made for my sister, Tammy, for her birthday. She has two Pomeranians that are so cute. I decided to make her a small scrapbook that she can add her pictures to of her dogs, Louie and Bear. I made her a "dog" card to match. I used a background paw print stamp from TAC to make the strips on the front of the card. I used another TAC stamp of the puppy. The message on the front was done using Word on the computer and printed in brown ink. The inside saying is from Kat's stamping and scrapbooking. I covered up my own message inside. Sorry about that - I forgot to scan it before I signed it. I used colored pencils and Turpenoid(like Gamsol) to color the puppy. I added the brown fru-fru ribbon at the fold. I sure hope she enjoys her scrapbook and card.

Brother-in-law's birthday

I just finished making my brother-in-law's birthday card and figured I better put in my blog now. I always struggle with masculine cards. I used some patterned paper to help me out with this card. I just LOVE two-sided cardstock. They make the best cards. I like my inside to have some design to it, not just the outside. I cut the "happy" out of the paper and stamped the "birthday"(Fiskars stamps). I then cut various pieces of coordinating paper to piece onto the front and inside of the card. I used a clear overlay for the verse inside. It came from Cardmaker's birthday overlays booklet. It is made by Hot Off the Press. I love these things! And that, my friends, is it. Simple and easy. Yay!

Nanny's birthday card

I had to get my Mother-in-law's birthday card done so I can get it in the mail in time for her birthday. I was mulling several ideas in my head when I remembered that I had this cute purse stamp by Just For Fun stamps. She is in a "Red Hat" group and loves her red and purple accessories. I decided she needed a cute little "purse" to go with that theme. I love how quick this card is, but still gives the "wow" factor. All I did was stamp it on patterned paper for the front and cut out. Next, I stamped the purse again on red cardstock twice, but one is upside down and butted up at the bottom to the first image. I cut this all out as one image. Then I run my bone folder along the seam where the two images meet. I fold this and you have a cute purse that opens at the top where the handles are. I next stamp the accessories on the inside which is also a stamp from Just For Fun stamps. I used two different verse stamps to creat the greeting. The "It's your day" stamp is from Vap Scrap stamps. The "happy birthday" stamp is unknown. The last step is to attach the fru-fru trim to the front of the card. Yippee! All done.
