Innovative Stamp Creations Contest Entry

Good afternoon. I finally had some time to work on a card for the Innovative Stamp Creations contest posted here: http://innovativestampcreations.blogspot.com/2008/06/isc-c6-card-sketch.html I used the butterfly from their sheet called "Summer Elements II". First I created 2 masks of the butterfly, one regular one and one reverse. First I put the reverse mask on my circle and used various shades of purple and lavendar to fill in the body and wings. After that I removed that mask and put on the regular mask over the butterfly body and wings. I then sponged green inks on the rest of the circle. When sponging was done I stamped my butterfly over the sponging with black Versafine. I then added glitter to parts of the wings. Lastly I sprayed a fine mist of Gold Glimmer Mist over the entire circle. I then cut a scallop circle with my Nestabilities die from lavendar cardstock. I sponged the edges with green ink. I then attached the butterfly circle to the scallop circle. I cut a piece of DP to fit the entire front of the card(DCWV) and attached it to the card. I then cut a piece of darker lavendar cardstock to attach across the middle of the card as shown. I used my Martha Stewart edger punch to create the decorative edges of the strip. I attached strip across the middle of the card. Next, I cut a strip of lavendar glitter paper(DCWV) and punched the decorative edge in it also. I attached it to the middle strip. I then attached the circle piece with dimensional foam pads to the left side of the card as shown. The last step was to spray more Gold Glimmer Mist over the entire card. I am afraid that the glittery details do not show up well on my scanner. I really enjoyed this challenge.
Blessings,
Janet

My Inner Martha Challenge June 2008

My DH and I are celebrating our 24th anniversary tomorrow on June 29. I must say that it has gone by so fast. I still love him dearly and would be in a heap of trouble if anything ever happens to him. Anyway, I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I used "My Inner Martha's" blog challenge as the kind of card I made my DH. I decided to go with her challenge March 11, 2008 which was to stamp on patterned paper. I bought this little paper pack from my LSS and it is from My Mind's Eye. I love this paper. I also used the tag from the collection. I used stamps from Inque Boutique for the card background stamping and on the polka dot piece of DP. It is hard to see in the scan but the image on the polka dot paper is a scrolly heart. I antiqued the edges of the card and tag with Rust Adirondack ink. The stamped images were all stamped with SU So Saffron dye ink. The snaps on the tag are by Daisy Hill. And that's about it. I hope my DH likes his card. Thanks for stopping by.

Bring on the bling!

Here is my entry for the A Muse challenge sponsored by Tayler V. of Taylored Expressions blog. I uploaded it to Splitcoast Stampers but the link isn't working right. I decided I better loaded onto my blog to be safe. All stamps are by A Muse. I matted with my Nestabilities. The white mats are white glitter paper. I added extra bling to the top of the wand and to the star on the greeting. I also accented the images with pink and black Stardust gelly roll pens. Added a wide ribbon in the middle and put a piece of trimmed off DP on top of it. All DP is from DCWV. Thanks for looking.

Happy Father's Day, Dad

Yay, I got my Dad's card done for Father's Day. He lives in Birmingham, AL so I had to get it done so I could get it in the mail. I saw this "road trip" stamp(Scrappy Cat) and had to get it. It reminded me of my Dad and his love for road trips. We would often pile into the car on a Sunday afternoon and go for a "drive". I remember several times ending up in the middle of nowhere and having to eat at some local dive. I think that I am the only sibling that actual liked road trips. We also took some long vacations to places like Florida(before Disney World), the Outer Banks of NC, Northern Minnesota(visiting my grandparents), Wisconsin(visiting my other grandparents), Canada(visiting Dad's aunt and uncle), and more. We had 4 kids so we usually piled into the station wagon with the old pop-up towing behind. We would play games such as name that state and capital(Hey, I learned my geography that way), 20 questions, cows and graveyards( whoever got 100 cows first without passing a graveyard, wins!), and singing lots of songs. Back to the card, the car stamps are from Stickyscrap.com. The DP is from www.MyMomenta.com. I love it because it is double-sided! This paper is from the 5"X7" pack called "Going Places". Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Father's Day card for FIL

When I first saw this stamp(Tin Can Mail) of the man and boy I immediately thought of my DH and his Dad. It also makes me think of my Dad and my nephews. I decided that it would be the center piece of my card for my Father-in-law. I saw the direct-to-paper technique in a magazine I was reading this week and decided to use that as the background for the stamp. I used Stampin' Up inks in Soft Sky, Bordering Blue, and True Thyme. The words came from a single stamp by Stampendous. I did stamped on another piece of paper that I did the same technique. I cut the words apart. All papers were distressed and edged in black ink. I hope he has a great Father's Day. Thanks for looking.
