Paper Smooches August Design Entry - Sheep

Here is a card I made using two Paper Smooches stamp sets. The sets I used were "Giddy Bugs" and "Spiffy Scooters". I wanted to try to use these sets to make card totally unrelated to the original sets. I used paper piecing and fussy cutting to accomplish my goal. The body of the sheep is the cloud from "Spiffy Scooters". The ears are also from "Spiffy Scooters". The head is from the girly-girl bug in the "Giddy Bugs" set. And the sheep's legs are from the lightening bug in the "Giddy Bugs" set. Obviously the clouds are from the "Spiffy Scooters" set. For the words I used the "love" from Love Bug in the "Giddy Bugs" set and the "e's" from "You make my life brighter" phrase in the same set. The "w" is also from that set - used it from "Buzzworthy". I stamped LOVE two times and just cut out the heart from one of them to glitter and add with dimensional foam. The papers are from "Welcome Baby Boy" 8X8 scrapbook bundle by American Traditional Designs which I dug out of my stash. Thanks for stopping by. :D

Paper Smooches "Scooting By..." Card

Hi all,

Just scootin' by to show you a card I made using one of my favorite stamp sets from Paper Smooches. I made this card for my nephew's wife for her birthday. I just LOVE paper piecing with these stamps. They are just SO fun! All the patterned paper is from My Minds' Eye "Good day Sunshine" collection. When I saw this paper with the scooters on it I just HAD to use it. :D The coloring was done with Copic markers and Stardust gelly roll pens. I antiqued all the edges with Walnut Stain Distress ink by Tim Holtz(Ranger). Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Card using Gina K Designs stamps

Hi everyone,

Gosh, has it really been that long since I last posted? I am not being too good with my blogging. This time I am showing you a card I made for my brother-in-law's upcoming birthday. I knew I wanted to use my Gina K Designs set called "Way to Go". It is a humorous set that is good for masculine birthdays. I decided to make a gatefold card out of gray cardstock. I then made a door out of various grays and black for the front piece. I stamped the image with black Versafine ink and fussy cut it out. Adhered to door. I drew a door handle and punched out a piece of silver metallic cardstock for the knob. ( just used a standard hole punch) Open the front and you come to the second flap. I made this to look like a bathroom stall door. I just eyeballed the sizes for the cardstock and cut out. I drew on the door handle. When you open this last flap, you will see the main images of a toilet and toilet paper roll that have been stamped on white cardstock and fussy cut and adhered. The greeting was stamped, cut and matted on black cardstock then mounted to card. All stamps are by Gina K. It was quite easy once I had the concept in my mind. Thanks for stopping by.

Graduation Card

You are not going to believe this but this is a card that I made for the sake of making a graduation card. No challenges or contests! My cousin's son is graduating next week in Tennessee so I needed to get him a card made and in the mail NOW. LOL I don't know how I got started making my graduation cards this way, but I now use the invitation/announcement in my card. I begin by cutting apart all the elements from the announcement that would work as a card element. Next, I choose my colors which, of course, follow the school colors represented in the announcement. I then die cut everything and mat it all with matching metallic cardstock. It seems like every announcement has silver or other metallic type on it. This school has green and silver for the main colors. I matted everything with either silver or green metallic papers. The graduation motto and quote both came from the announcement, too. They both worked great for the greetings. No stamps were used. I generated my personal comments on the computer and printed it out. Sure hope he likes it. Oh, almost forgot - I did use my Stampin' Up texture plate by Sizzix to make the background for the front of the card. I just did tone on tone with white. Thanks for stopping by.

Gingersnap Creations and Our Creative Corner Challenges entry

It's me again. This time I am sharing a card I made for my nephew's 18th birthday. I decided to use the Gingersnap Creations "read" and "pencils" challenges and the Our Creative Corner masculine birthday challenge. Links to these challenges can be found at the end of this entry.

I started with a green card and attached two pieces of designer paper(Prima - Pulse Collection) at odd angles across the card as shown. I then cut off the edges that were hanging off the card. I then stamped the notebook paper(Clear Dollar Stamps) with black ink on white cardstock and cut out. I then used a regular pencil to write various notes on the paper and erased some to look authentic. I attached the note page onto the card with pop up adhesive dots. Next, I wrote "HBD"(happy birthday) in graffiti slang. I cut it in an irregular shape and matted onto more of the DP and attached flat to the card. I then cut two embellishments from more DP from the Prima collection with dies from Spellbinders(used my Wizard to die cut them). I attached them with dimensional adhesive as shown. The last thing I did was distress all the edges with black ink.

2 Sketches 4 You: Kazan's Sketch 51

Well, I finally got around to making a card for my nephew's birthday which is next week. He is only 14 months younger than his older brother so I had to make a similar card for him as I did for his brother. I made his brother a basketball themed card since it was basketball playoffs time. So I used baseball as the theme for this card since that is the season in full swing now. I used Kazan's sketch 51 from 2 Sketches 4 You blog. Here is the link: http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2010/04/kazans-sketch-51-farewell.html . I pretty much followed the sketch to a T with lots of layering. I used scrapbook paper from one of those packs from the Target Dollar Spot. Isn't that the best! You can get some great paper there for just a buck! The stamped image is an oldie from TAC(The Angel Company) that was stamped with Stampin' Up Baroque Burgandy(retired). I shadowed it with my Copic Sketch marker CO (cool gray no. 0). I then stamped the words with brown ink(Colorbox Chalk) and cut them out. All of the blue paper is from a DCWV pad. I cut the popped up baseball from the paper. The little border under the baseball is from the same pack of cheap-o paper. I edged all the paper with Distress Ink in Antique Linen. And that is it. Pretty simple - just a lot of layering. I really liked this sketch. Thanks, Kazan!

Moxie Fab World sketch challenge - Baby T card

Gosh, I didn't realize it had been that long since I last posted. Where does the time go? Today I made a card for my friend who is expecting her 1st baby in May. The shower is tomorrow and I needed to get a card made. I decided to use the sketch challenge from the Moxie Fab World blog. Here is the link: http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2010/04/get-sketchy-our-go-to-sketches-week.html . When at all possible I like to make a card as personal as possible for the recipient. For this baby card I copied and printed an ultrasound picture of my friend's baby. I made a blue square card(6 x 6") with a top fold. I then picked paper from my American Traditional Designs "Welcome Baby Boy" scrapbook bundle. I die cut the frame using my square Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I assembled all the pieces as shown. The conversation bubble(Simply Adornit by Carolee's Creations) was stamped with yellow ink on white paper and then sponged with yellow ink. I then cut out the bubble and attached it with pop dots above the framed baby picture. I then typed out the saying on the computer and printed it. I cut the words apart and then glued them to the bubble. That is it. Thanks for stopping by today.

Yes, it is my THIRD post today! WooHoo! This time I have a card that I made for my nephew, Earle. Yes, that IS his name. He is named for his Grandpa. Isn't that sweet! I decided to use the sketch 30 from Crazy 4 Challenges blog : http://crazy4challenges.blogspot.com/2010/03/crazy-4-challenges-c4c30.html . I used an image that I have had for YEARS and it is unmounted (no cushion), but I can't remember the name of the company that made it. I do know that the company went out of business so it won't help you much if I did have the name. I stamped the cute fella with Memento black ink and colored him with Copics to match the background paper(DCWV). I used my Nesties label to die cut him. The greeting is from the same set from the company I can't remember. I used brown ink for it. I felt it needed something else so I added a faux stitching around the borders with a brown marker. Card Patterns Sketch 57: Happy Easter

Hello again,
Yes, it's a miracle! Another post on the same day! This card is for my nephew, Jake, for Easter. Why is it that it is so much harder to make a cute Easter card for a boy without looking too girly. I decided to use my cute little bunny stamp by Dandelion Designs. It is not too girly for a boy. I stamped him and cut him out. I used my Copics to color him. I also used my Nesties for the backdrop for the bunny. I used the sketch from Card Patterns found here: http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2010/03/sketch-57.html . I used paper from CosmoCricket's Honey Pie collection. The cardstock for the card is from DCWV. I added some square glittery gems(Mark Richards) in the bottom righthand corner. Gingersnap Creations "Growth" and Moxie Fab World Paper Piecing challenges

Hello! What a fine day this has ended up being here in Michigan! The sun is out and it is in the 50s. I love it. Today I am sharing a card I made that combines two challenges. It is for my great niece for Easter. One of the challenges is to make a card that has to do with some kind of growth whether new growth, personal growth or Spring growth. I represented growth by the flower sprouting up and being cared for by this adorable little girl from the Pure Innocence collection at MFT. The second challenge is to paper piece either your main image or your background and is sponsored by the Moxie Fab World blog. Well, I paper pieced this little girl's dress to match the background paper. The papers I used are from the K & Company K-ology Hannah Cardstock pad. I used my Copics to color her in and used my Nesties to frame her. The greeting is from Studio G and was cut out with a Spellbinders die. The white paper lace is from K & Company's Smitten collection and the pink lace is from the Crafter's Square. I edged the main image and the greeting with pink ink from Stampin' Up. CPS Sketch 159

I started with a card from K & Company's Designer Cards in the Classic K pad. I inked the edges with Walnut ink from Ranger's Distess inks. I then added some faux stitching around the edge with a brown marker. I then used other matching papers from the same pad to make the frame, label, and flower. I edged all the die cut pieces(all from Sizzix) with the Walnut ink. I added some more faux stitching to the flower. I stamped the Bible verse(Verve) with brown ink. The felt flower added to the die cut flower is from Crafter's Square. The frame and the flower were popped up with Dimensionals adhesive by Stampin' Up. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy B'day Garrett: CPS158 and Gingersnap Creations "Birthday"

Hi ya'll,
What a crazy week it's been around here. The students in my class were wild all week. It must be Spring fever! Anyway, I had to get a card made for my nephew, Garrett, whose birthday is next week. Being that he lives 8 hours away I better get going on that card. I decided since he is turning 10 that he would want a card that wasn't so kiddish (hmmm... making up words here) so I went with a March Madness theme. I remembered seeing some basketball paper in my stash so that was easy. I had a couple of coordinating paper packs from the Target dollar spot - Don't you love that place! Sorry I digress. Back to the card, I needed a sketch so I decided to use the current sketch from Card Positioning System seen here:
http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2010/03/reader-ideas-week-of-31410.html . I also remembered that I needed to get a card done for the Gingersnap Creations "Birthday" challenge. Here is the link to that one: http://gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/2010/02/gc44-random-redhead-challenge-birthday.html . I started with an orange textured cardstock A2 card with a top fold. I inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress ink (Ranger). Next I cut a piece of non-textured cardstock in the same tone as the orange card(Stampin' Up) slightly smaller than the card front. I rounded the corners and also edged with the Tea Dye ink. Then I cut piece of designer paper(Target) a bit smaller than the non-textured cardstock and edged it with same ink, rounding the corners with same punch as previous piece. I mounted these to card as shown. Next I found two coordinating border pieces from the Target paper packs and edged them with ink and layered them together on the bottom half of the card. Next, I took a tag from the paper collection and stamped the greeting(Printworks Clearly Defined) first in a lighter blue and then overstamped with a darker blue(both inks are from ColorBox chalk ink). I added two stars punched from the same paper that is on card and attached with glue dots. Very simple, but also very mailable. Page Maps Nerdy Bird Sketch Contest Entry

Hi! Yes, another post in the same day! I am on a roll. I really wanted to make my Irish friend, Mazie, a St. Patty's day card and I realized that I had to get one in the mail tomorrow! Yikes! I decided to use the sketch from the Page Maps blog Nerdy Bird sketch contest. Here is the link: http://pagemaps.com/blog.php?do=blog&id=89 . As for the card, I made a green A2 size card. I matted it with white cardstock that had been embossed with my Cuddlebug Textile folder. Next, I cut a strip of patterned paper from my DCWV Spring mat pack from a few years ago. I then added a punched strip above that one as shown. I used my new Stampin' Up border punch to make the strip. I attached those together and attached them to the card. Next, I stamped my cute little fairy from MFT Pure Innocence collection. I colored her with Copics and added Stampin' Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the wings. I then cut her out. I also stamped a small shamrock from MSE and cut it out after coloring with Copics. I die cut 3 circles with my Nestabilities from Spellbinders using white, light green and dark green. I mounted them as shown. I added some stitch marks on the white circle with my green Copic marker. I then attached the fairy to the circles. I added a die cut shamrock(Sizzix) to the left of the fairy. Lastly I mounted the little shamrock above the fairy's hand and drew a line down to her hand so that she is holding the shamrock. And there you have it. I guess I will go ahead and wish everyone a happy St. Patty's Day a little early.

Birthday Thank You Notes

Happy Daylight Savings Time to you all! I hate losing the hour of sleep, but I sure do like it getting dark later. That means that Spring is right around the corner(hopefully). Today I needed to get some Thank You cards done. Friday was my birthday and my coworkers threw me a wonderful surprise brunch. They also gave me some very fitting birthday presents - diet Pepsi pack and dark chocolate. They know me very well! LOL I decided to dig through my stash of already made cards since I had 4 to do. The first three cards are some that I made at my monthly card night. I have a wonderful Stampin' Up demonstrator who sponsors our card nights. She and another gal plan and cut supplies for 4 cards each month. We then make a total of 12 cards each month - 3 of each design. All this for just $20. What a bargain! All we have to do is bring scissors and tape. Most of their designs are from Splitcoast Stampers or Stampin' Up catalogs. The last card is one that I made several years ago, but the colors and theme fit one gal to a tee. I might as well use it even if it is a very beginner card for me. At least it is all my design. Doing a Double Duty Card

Well, I see already that I need to clean the glass in my scanner! LOL That smudge in the middle of the card is NOT on the card itself. Gee Whiz! Anyway, I made this card for the Verve Challenge 1 seen here: http://vervestamps.blogspot.com/2010/03/spring-fling-challenge-1.html and the clean & simple blog sketch here: http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com/2010/03/81.html . As for how I made this clean and simple card, I started with some green cardstock from DCWV made into an A2 size card. I then distressed the edges with my little pink distressing tool by Heidi Swapp. I then cut another piece of green paper just a bit smaller than the card. I distressed the edges of this paper, too. Now I took my 1 inch circle punch from Stampin' Up and punched 3 holes from the smaller piece of green paper as shown. I then stamped my greeting from the Verve Thoughtful Florals set in the space between the second and third holes. I used Wisteria Chalk ink by Colorbox. Next I cut some lavendar and white floral designer paper from K & Company's Wedding Collection Designer Mat Pad and attached it behind the holes so that flowers are seen in the holes. I then attached that green piece to the card. That is it. Definitely clean and simple. Thanks for stopping by.

Pink Persimmon Sketch Challenge - Card 2

Hello again. Here is my second card that I made for the Pink Persimmon Blog Hop Sketch Challenge. Check out the sketch here: http://pinkpersimmon.typepad.com/pinkpersimmon/2010/02/sketch-challenge.html
I decided to use my neglected Sizzix dies for this card. I die cut the basket, flowers, swirl accent, and "bloom" with my little red Sizzix machine. All of the dies except the basket are Sizzlets. The basket is an original Sizzix die. I cut the basket out of designer paper that looked like a weave pattern(Provo Craft Bitty Scrap Pad - Backgrounds). All the other paper used is from DCWV mat stacks). I made the card from off white cardstock. I edged the 5 X 7 card with Tea Dye Distress Ink from Ranger. I then added a background paper(Crafty Secrets - Earthy paper pad)and distressed the edges with my pink distresser from Heidi Swapp. I then antiqued it with the Tea Dye Distress ink. Next I antiqued the basket with Walnut Stain Distress ink and attached it flat to my card after adding a cream bow to the handle. I layered my flowers and centered them each with a yellow or pink brad. I arranged them in the basket and attached with adhesive after I was pleased with the placement. I then die cut a swirl to layer over the basket. I cut the word "bloom" and attached under the swirl as shown. To finish I attached 3 matching buttons to the top left of the card. Pink Persimmon Sketch Challenge - Card 1

Happy Sunday to you! I finally found some time to make my Mom's card for her 70th birthday. Yahoo! I decided to use the sketch posted by Pink Persimmon ( http://pinkpersimmon.typepad.com/pinkpersimmon/2010/02/sketch-challenge.html ). They are giving away some fantastic stamp sets as prizes. Be sure to check it out before midnight tonight.

On to my card, I started with a card from Brenda Walton Dollhouse Cardstock Pad by K & Company. There are many great patterns to pick from in this pad. I chose this pink one since my mom likes cards with a vintage feel. I then die cut a piece of off-white textured cardstock using my new Labels 6 (next to largest die) by Spellbinders. I used my Wizard(Spellbinders) machine to die cut the Label. Next I stamped my image of a gal holding a huge cake(MFT) directly onto the Label with Versafine black ink. Then I stamped her again on various matching patterned papers from my 6 X 6 pad of Porcelain Paper by Basic Grey. I cut out the various pieces and glued them to the image already stamped on the Label. I added some clear Stardust gel pen(Sakura) to the cake. I also added the "70" on top of the cake with cut up Dimensional adhesive pieces from Stampin' Up. I embellished the "70" with yellow and clear Stardust gel pens. I then did some shading around the edge of the Label to give it an aged look using Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress ink from Ranger. The next step was to cut a strip of matching paper to mount up across the lower half of the card as shown. I used paper from the same Porcelain collection and also antiqued the edges with Tea Dye ink. I then added a green ribbon around it and added a cheater knotted bow to the left side of ribbon. I proceeded to stamp the greeting(MFT) on white cardstock cutting out each word individually. I added the Tea Dye ink antiquing to these pieces also. I attached the greeting pieces flat to the card below the ribbon piece to the left. Lastly I antiqued the whole card front edges with Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress inks. To finish it off I added faux stitching around the entire edge of card with my white Inkssentials gel pen. I sure hope my mom likes it. Our Creative Corner - Try a new technique challenge

Hi everyone. Hope that your weekend went great with lots of fun and relaxation. :D I wish I could keep this post on a high note, but alas I cannot. My best friend from my childhood lost her Mom on Thursday night. I needed to make a card for her. I knew I wanted to use some kind of text and a flower image, but didn't know what. I decided to try something different after reading the challenge on the "Our Creative Corner" blog. I decided first of all to make a purple card since that is my friend's favorite color. I then found a page from an old book that had old German or something like that on it. Well, I didn't want to use the original since it was really cool text so I scanned it and then printed it. I was not sure how it would do using the computer paper with stamping, but since I was supposed to try a new technique I said what the hay! I cut the paper to fit my card front leaving a small border of the card showing. Next, I sponged purple ink on the edges and then just a thin edge of black. I then colored with markers directly on my stamp(Penny Black) and misted it with water. I then stamped it right on the text. After it dried the paper was slightly wrinkled, but it added to the aged look that I was going for. I then attached a sheer white ribbon as shown and then used adhesive to attach to the card front. I then added another piece of ribbon to make the knot. I then stamped the verse(Verve) with green ink and die cut it with my Wizard using one of my Nesties Label sets(Spellbinders). I attached this to the top left of the card with dimensional adhesive(Stampin' Up). And there you have it. I may just have to do this again. I really like the look of the stamping on the text. Limelight Papercrafts Sketch 40 with Hearts

Yes, it's me AGAIN! It seems to be feast or famine with me and my blogging. LOL Here is my card for the adorable sketch from Limelight Papercrafts blog. I knew right away that I wanted to use my Berry Sweet paper from K & Company because I had a cute die cut chipboard sticker to match it. I cut two different papers into strips and then mounted them on a scratch piece of paper to get them all lined up nicely. I then cut them into a rectangle to fit on the front of my green card. I then put the sticker on as shown. It says "Best Friends" on it. It also has some bling already added to it. I felt that the edges were just too plain so I cut some rickrack and attached it to the edges on the top and bottom. Voila! It is done. This was a nice quick card. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday Sketch

Hi,

Today I have been busy. Hubby, daughters and I spent the day in Ann Arbor visiting the Natural History Museum. My youngest daughter goes to college there at U of M(Go Blue!). Now that I am back home I am busy getting some cards made for some more challenges. This card is for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Here is the link: (http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2010/02/mojo-monday-125-contest.html) . I used an image that I had previously colored with Copics and had laying on my desk. I just LOVE these new image by MFT called Pure Innocence. I added some Stardust gelly roll in to her wings and the magic wand. I then had to find some paper that would match her. I ended up having to make a 5 X 7 card because she was a bit too big to fit on an A2 size card using this sketch. I found a mat stack by DCWV that I thought would match her dress well. It's called Blossoms & Butterflies. I cut two different pieces to put on the front of the card as shown. Since my girly here is a fairy I figure butterflies were a go. I die cut my fairy with my rectangle Nesties(Spellbinders) and then die cut another scallop rectangle from silver mirror card. I decided to do all my mats in the silver cardstock because the designer paper had silver on it. I edged her rectangle with blue ink. I then cut a small rectangle from another piece of DP and die cut a silver scallop rectangle for it(Nesties again). I then cut a strip of paper to use for the piece that goes under the circle. I die cut the circles with DP and silver card as shown. I stamped the verse that came with this image(MFT) with black ink on white cardstock and then cut the words out individually. I mounted them on the matted circles using pop dots. I then adhered the circle to the card with pop dots. And there you have it. Thanks for stopping by.

2 Sketches 4 You: Kazan's Sketch 45

Howdy peeps! Long time no see. LOL Here is a card I just finished (in the nick of time) using Kazan's sketch 45. Here is the link to the sketch challenge: http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2010/02/kazans-sketch-45.html .

I started with a 5 1/2 inch square white card and matted the front with black cardstock. Next I stamped my image(Stampin' Up Vintage Valentines set) on white cardstock and several different patterned papers from the Sassafras collection called Sunshine Lollipops. It is such a fun collection. I then paper pieced the image together and colored the flesh and hair with colored pencils and Gamsol. Next I cut the circle out around the image using my Creative Memories cutting system. I then cut a larger circle out of a matching piece of DP. I then cut a large square of DP to layer on top of the black. I edged all pieces with Tea Dye Distress Ink by Ranger. Then I layered the circles onto the card in the middle as shown. The last thing I did was to punch 2 hearts out of more DP from the same collection . I added those on either side of the image with pop dots. And there you have it. Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #24

Good evening everone. It is time for another challenge card from me. This time I wanted to do a card for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog challenges. The challenge verse was Matt. 18:4 and the card had to have a child or child items such as toys on it. Here is the link: http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/2010/01/challenge-24-matthew-184.html . I knew immediately that I had to use one of MFT's new Pure Innocence images. Isn't she adorable! I stamped her on white cardstock and colored her with my Copics. Now remember I am still very new at this Copic thing so don't be too harsh on me. :D I then die cut a frame using one of my Spellbinders frame sets. I added some glitter to the raised dots, but it is kind of hard to see it in my scan. I also highlighted the heart in her hair and the hearts on her pockets with a Clear Stardust gelly roll pen. All of the designer paper I used came from paper pad by The Paper Studio called Pink Armadillo. It is sold by Hobby Lobby. It has glitter added to most of the papers inside. Very yummy! I also punched 5 stars from matching papers that all had glitter on them. I mounted 4 flat to the card and the middle one is popped up with a pop dot. The verse was printed off the computer and edged with pink ink. I popped it up with pop dots, too. And there you have it. I hope you all have a blessed rest of the weekend.

OCC Music Challenge

I am just cranking out these cards lately. LOL I actually am trying to get cards done for a swap and find challenges help get the old mojo going. Today I decided to try the Our Creative Corner's challenge to use music on a card or project(http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/2010/01/our-creative-corner-music-challenge.html. Here I used a beautiful piece of designer paper as my background. I inked the edges with pink ink. I wanted to use my Magnolia stamps so thought this cutie would go great with the butterfly images on the paper. I colored her with my Copics which I am still quite new at using, but thought she turned out okay. I then accented her with Sakura Stardust gelly roll ink on the rose and her lace slip. I did her wings with SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I then die cut her with a frame from Spellbinders. I left the frame in the die and brushed the raised part with pink ink. I also punched out a butterfly(Martha Stewart) and covered it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter, too. I bent his wings up and just attached the body right above the rose. I attached the girl image flat to the card and then added the frame with pop up strips. I wrapped a piece of pink satin ribbon around the bottom and made a large bow to glue on top of it as shown. This will be abirthday card for a friend in the swap. I will probably make a cutesy verse for the inside - something to do with roses are red, etc. Thanks for stopping by.

Double duty card for Card Patterns Sketch 49 and Metallic Challenge for Gingersnap Creations

Wow, I know! I've posted two days in a row. Nothing like deadlines to make me get busy. My on-line group is doing a swap and so I needed some inspiration to help me get them done. I used the sketch 49 from Card Patterns (http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2010/01/sketch-49.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FaYJY+%28CardPatterns%29) and the metallic challenge from Gingersnap Creations (http://gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/2010/01/gc39-color-challenge-metallics.html) which is to use metallic paper, embellishments or ink on a card. In case you can't tell I did use metallics on this card. The three hearts in the top left corner are red metallic embellishments. My silly scanner makes them look black, but if you look close on the edges you can see that they are red and shiny. I used my Nesties to die cut the squares and the hanging hearts. My stamp is a retired one from Stampin' Up. I used a water brush to watercolor the cow a light pink. The rest of the coloring was done with Sakura Stardust gelly roll pens in yellow, red, and clear. I added Dazzling Diamonds(SU) glitter to the wings and scarf. I edged the white square with pink chalk and then dirtied it up a little with black ink. I covered the entire card front with DP from Miss Elizabeth(Dollar Tree) and edged with black ink. I added the black ribbon with die cut hearts as shown. The hearts needed a little something so I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to them, too. I added the 3 Metallic hearts with pop dots. That's it for this card. Thanks for stopping by.

OCC Sketch SASSC50

Today I am posting a card that I made following the sketch from OCC found here: http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/2010/01/sketch-challenge-sassc50.html

I decided to dig out a stamp set that has been gathering dust to make this card. It is by Stampin' Up and it is the retired set called "Vintage Valentines". I just love the images in this set and was glad I found it again. I stamped the image on white cardstock(Gina K) with Versafine black ink. I then used colored pencils and Gamsol to color the image. I then cut the image out. I made a 5 X 7 card out of white cardstock. I then cut a piece of patterned paper(DaisyD)to fit entire front of card. Before I attached it, I taped a length of pink ribbon onto the back so that it would come over and hang down the front of the card. I then attached the paper to the card. I also inked the edges with Old Paper Distress ink. Next I cut white cardstock into a rectangle and ran it through my Big Shot with the Sizzix three dot embossing folder. I then edged it with Old Paper ink. Next I cut a slightly bigger red rectangle and cut the edges with decorative scissors. I mounted the red piece to the card and then the white embossed piece on top of the red one. I then glued the ribbon onto the card. Next I found two doilies in red and white. I trimmed the outer edge off the white one and mounted it flush to the red one. I attached the layered doilies to the card on top of the ribbon with dimensional adhesive as shown. Next I popped up the image onto the doilies. I made a large pink bow and attached to the top of the image. The last thing I did was to punch out a heart from my patterned paper and stamped "hugs" (Hero Arts) on it. I edged the heart with the Old Paper Distress ink. Moxie Fab Challenge - Anne Taintor style card

I am back this time with a card I made for the Moxie Fab World blog challenge. The challenge was to make a card in the "Anne Taintor" style. I knew right away where I would find my image to use. I bought a calendar back in 2005 called "Hemlines" which has all kinds of old '50s style patterns for dresses. I found the image I wanted to use and scanned it. I want to save the original so I use the scanned copy to create with. After printing out the image I cut it into a rectangle. I made a card from purple cardstock to match colors in the image. I then cut a DCWV scallop black paper so that the scallop edge was on the long edge of the card. I then added a thin white satin ribbon which is just taped on the back of the black piece. I adhered the black piece to the purple card. I then took my image and inked the edges with purple ink. I attached it to the black piece on the card. I printed the sentiment taken from a list of favorite Anne Taintor sayings on her website. I thought this saying matched the ladies in the picture perfectly. I cut out each sentence and matted them on black cardstock. I attached them as shown. To finish I added some bling stones under the saying and also to the main lady's dress. I also used Stardust clear gel pen to bling up her earrings. And that was it! What a fun challenge. Now that I have my vintage calendar out I believe I shall make some more of these "Anne Taintor-tude" cards.

Some more challenges!

Can you believe it? Two posts in one day! Woo Hoo! I did another double duty card combining two challenges. One challenge was sponsored by Allison over at the "Stampin' When I Can"blog( http://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com/2010/01/everything-old-is-new-again-challenge.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+StampinWhenICan+%28Stampin%27+When+I+Can%29). The challenge is to use a stamp that had been collecting dust in your stash. I pulled out an oldie by "Me and my Big Ideas" by Inkadinkado. The other challenge is sponsored by Card Patterns Sketch #47( http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2010/01/sketch-47.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FaYJY+%28CardPatterns%29).

To make the card I first used some orange DCWV cardstock cut to the standard A2 card size with the fold on the top. I then used my Big Shot with the Cuttlebug "Spots & Dots" embossing folder to emboss the front of the card. Next I cut a journal tag from a page in the Cosmo Cricket Paper Pad called "Get Happy". I stamped the boy with presents image(Me & My Big Ideas by Inkadinkado) directly onto the journal tag using black Versafine ink. I then colored parts of the image with Marvy Uchida markers. I then cut a black mat for the journal tag and attached it with adhesive. Then I cut two more journal tags and stamped the bottom image from the stamp set called "Two You" by Stampendous' Perfectly Clear Stamps. The "oh" in the top square was hand drawn and colored with markers and clear Stardust gel pen. I also colored these with the Marvy brush markers. These were attached to the larger image as shown. I then attached these images to the card plus cut a border from the paper pad to add to the right edge of the card. I also added some clear stardust gelly roll ink to parts of the images, but it is hard to see in my scan. For the inside of the card, I followed the theme from the front of the card. I cut the border and the "oh" from the paper pad. I then stamped another stamp from the same set on another journal paper and colored with markers. I'm back with a card for some challenges!

Yes, It has been a LONG time since my last post. Life just keeps getting in the way. This blog is really a card diary of sorts for me. It keeps track of cards for me so I have a record of what I've done. It also helps me see where I've come from and where I'm going with my card making. This card is a double duty card. I finished it last night, but was so tired I didn't get it onto my blog. I missed the deadline for one of the challenges, but such is life. The challenge I missed was sponsored by MFT and it was a no coloring challenge(http://www.mftstamps.com/blog/?p=1125&utm_source=feedblitz&utm_medium=FeedBlitzEmail&utm_content=231189&utm_campaign=Express_). The other challenge is sponsored by Gingersnap Creations blog and the challenge was to make a project using "Time" as the theme (http://gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/2010/01/gc37-chestnut-theme-challenge-time.html).

To make this card I made the 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card from a piece of patterned pattern from the "Well Worn" paper pad (Marcella by K & Company purchased at Target). Next, I die cut my focal images from Labels 1 and Labels 3 from Spellbinders Nestabilities. I also cut a strip from the stripe paper to lay down 1/4 of the way over from the right side of the front. I attached it directly to the card with adhesive. Next, I layered my two larger die cuts on top of each other as shown(using dimensional adhesive to pop them both up). I then took the 3 smaller die cuts and stamped a watch(MFT - Congrats all Around set) on each one with Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and also inking the edges of the dies with the same ink. These 3 die cuts were then attached directly to the card with adhesive. To make the greeting I used my Big Shot and the Extended Cuts "Small Stuff alphabet" by Stu Kilgour. I used my glue pen to attach the letters to the die cut. On the inside of the card I used the same patterned papers and die cut letters to make "celebrate". I also used the "happy birthday" die cut from QuicKuts ShortKutz birthday set. I also stamped the watch on my envelope. This card is going to my nephew for his birthday. Thanks for stopping by.

Card Patterns Sketch 39 and Gingersnap Creations brad challenge entry

Hi, it's me! I have decided to quit apologizing for the length of time between posts. With my crazy life it is what it is! LOL Today I am posting a card that I made combining two contests. I used the sketch from Card Patterns(http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2009/10/boo.html) and I also figured it had brads on it so I also submitted it for the Gingersnap Creations brad challenge(http://gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/2009/10/gc26-spicy-supply-challenge-brads.html). I used paper from Colorbok's Friendly Forest collection. I just love this paper and have used it for several cards this Fall. I love the simple patterns and bright colors. The large scalloped and punched circle is actually a piece from a larger circle paper and I just cut it to fit the card. It is also from the Friendly Forest collection. I used my Wizard and Spellbinder's Nestabilities to make the main image circle piece. The image of the cake is a stamp from Stampin' Up's set called "That's Funny!". I colored the it with my Koh-i-noor pencils and used Gamsol to blend. I added some Ranger Antique Linen ink to the edges of the image to give a little color to it. I also used my Stardust clear gel pen to add sparkle to the candle flames and the icing on the cake. I stuck a red felt arrow under the circle for fun. And I finished up the card by adding some red ribbon to the bottom of the card and two brads in the upper left corner of the card. Done! Thanks for stopping by.

Moxie Fab Ruffle Challenge

Hi everyone. Yes, it's me the slacker blogger! I wish life wasn't so busy so I could create and blog more often. Oh well, what's a girl to do? I guess I just do what I can and be glad that of what I can do. :D Anyway, I made this card for the Moxie Fab World unusual ruffle challenge. I wanted to upload it as soon as I made it, but the above babbling explained my dilemna with time issues. So here I am posting it the day before the challenge is due. *sigh* For this card I used an iris folding circle that I had laying around. I decided that it needed to be a flower. I die cut it with a Nestabilities Blossom die in my Wizard. I love that my Wizard will cut through my thick layers that happen from the iris folding. I matted the flower with a gold piece of cardstock and then a piece of patterned paper. I found a scrap of green cardstock to make into a stem adding some accordian folds. I then cut some wide sheer white ribbon and scrunched/folded it along the bottom of the sunflower piece(backside with a strip of two sided adhesive tape) to look like a ruffle. I then mounted that whole piece to a white card. I added some yellow leaves ribbon trim over the seam. And that is about it. I wanted the Iris folding to be the focal point so I didn't want to over-embellish the card. It is for my daughter off at college. She loves yellow so it should make her happy. Hubby's Birthday Card and Caardvarks Ribbon Challenge

Hi all,

Yes, I know it's been awhile since I posted. My bad! I HAD to stamp this week since my hubby's birthday is the 18th. He will be in Florida with his Dad and brothers on the actual day so I have to get his card done ahead of time. I will sneak it into his suitcase before he leaves. :D Anyway, about the card, I decided to give the Caardvarks ribbon challenge(http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/10/take-bow-sponsored-by-may-arts.html) a try. It is a challenge for sure to try to work ribbon onto a guy card. I think the way I did it works alright. Here is how I made the card. I used a premade card by K&Company as a base. Next I cut a large rectangle of matching light green cardstock(DCWV). I then cut a smaller rectangle of offwhite graph-style patterned paper(Colorbok). I stamped the grandfather clock(Unity) onto the graph paper with brown ink(Memento). I inked the edges of the rectangles with ink(Distress from Ranger). I then attached the graph paper to the green one and then distressed the edges of the green paper with my edge distresser(Heidi Swapp). I then cut a smaller rectangle of green cardstock and another smaller rectangle of graph paper. I stamped the greeting (Cloud 9 Design) on the graph paper with the brown ink. I layered these the same as the previous pieces as seen on card. I cut the corners of the green paper with corner punch (Stampin' Up). I also inked and edge distressed these as above. The greeting was mounted flush to the card while the clock was attached with dimensional adhesives from Stampin' Up. Before attaching the clock piece to the card, I added three brown ribbon(American Crafts) tabs under the upper left edge of the piece. That is it. Thanks for stopping by.

Four Challenges in One Card

Hi everyone,

I have been MIA for a little while. Sorry about that. It has been crazy busy around here lately. Today I needed to get a card made for my Grandmother since she just sent me a nice long letter. I thought she would enjoy a Fall card. I figured time was of the essence so I combined as many challenges as I could on this one. I used real stitches for the stitch challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges blog(http://crazy4challenges.blogspot.com/2009/10/crazy-4-challenges-week-5-sew-happy.html). I also used the theme of the earth rejoicing(autumn leaves) for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog(http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/2009/10/challenge-7.html). Also sketch 36 by Laura over at 2 Sketches 4 You blog(http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2009/10/lauras-sketch-36.html). And last, but not least, I used the theme of Harvest(the trees are harvesting their gorgeous leaves) from the Gingersnap Creations blog challenge(http://gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/2009/10/gc25-chestnut-challenge-harvest.html).

To create this card, I used designer paper from K & Company mat pad called Fall Harvest. I cut the pieces a little smaller than the card so that the brown card would show as a mat. I edged all the outer sides with brown ink. I then punched holes along the middle paper strip, using my piercing kit from Timeless Touches. I then made large cross stitching using fiber from a fiber pack from Trimtex purchased from Hobby Lobby. I trimmed the bottom of the designer paper with "Clouds" Paper Edgers scissors from Fiskars. I then made photo corners at the top with my square punch from Creative Memories and a pair of paper edgers(scallop). I punched the sentiment circle using my Creative Memories circles punch(larger circle). I edged it with the brown ink. I then stamped the sentiment on it(TAC). I punched two small holes and added the leaf brads(Target) as shown. I mounted the sentiment circle with Dimensionals adhesive from Stampin' Up. And that is it. Final Day for Caardvark's Sketchfest

Hi all,

Today is the final day for the Caardvark's Sketchfest. I really enjoyed the sketch for today. My brother-in-law is turning 50 in a few weeks so I decided to make his birthday card using this sketch. I used The Prima Marketing "Youth Collection" 6x6 paper pad. I matted it all with black cardstock fr0m American Crafts. I die cut the large circle using my Nestabilities circles in my Wizard by Spellbinders. The smaller circles were punched using my Creative Memories circle punch. All edges were antiqued with either black ink or rust ink. The greeting and the number 50 were from the set called "Twenty Something" from Stampendous. I hope you enjoyed my posts for the stampfest. Caardvark's Sketchfest Friday

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post today since it is another crazy day here in paradise! Ha! This is day 6 of the Caardvark's Sketchfest (http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/09/sketchfest-friday.html). I actually had to be a little liberal with sketch today because my squares were kind of big. I had to put my greeting above the line. I used the Colorbok Friendly Forest collection again since it is so darn cute. I decided to make my daughter another card to send her at college. Isn't that the cutest saying? It is a stamp from the set called "U R A Hoot" from Cornish Heritage Farms. I used my square punch from Creative Memories to do the squares. I also inked all the edges with Pacific Point ink from Stampin' Up. Added clear stardust gelly roll ink to the owls for a little accent. I also popped the owls with pop dots so they stand up some. I add the brown rickrack to the bottom. Lastly I stamped the greeting with Pacific Point and cut out the individual words. Edged them with the same ink and mounted them directly to the paper. Caardvark's Sketchfest Thursday

Hey all,

Crazy day here. No time to breathe. Typing in short sentences. Gulp. Tryin' to catch my breath. ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ok, better now. It's day 5 in the sketchfest at Caardvark's(http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/09/sketchfest-thursday.html). I am not totally happy with my card today, but that is probably because by Thursday I am brain-dead from work. UGH! The large circle is more orange in person and this scan makes it look red. I promise it looks better in person. I would do another card, but I just don't have time. Plus I am trying to listen to Grey's Anatomy at the same time. LOL I followed the sketch pretty much as is. I made a 5x5" square card from offwhite cardstock. I then embossed the orange cardstock with the Cuddlebug Leafy Branch folder. I cut the circle out with my circle cutting system from Creative Memories. I also cut a rectangle from patterned paper and rounded the corners. I attached the rectangle directly to the card. Then attached the circle and trimmed off the excess. I inked all the edges with brown ink. I then stamped the acorns with brown ink on white cardstock. I colored them with Copic markers and cut them out. I attached them to the edge of the circle as shown. I then attached the sticker of the squirrel. That's it. I will send this one to my nephew for his birthday coming up. Hopefully, he will get a kick out of it. I will probably say something about it being his birthday afterall (so he should go nuts! Get it? Ha!). Anyway, gotta go pack lunches for tomorrow and get some shut-eye. Nite-

Caardvark's Sketchfest Wednesday

Hello everyone,

A very quick card today since my schedule is packed! I am loving the Caardvark's Sketchfest this week. It is fun to challenge myself to come up with new and different cards everyday. Today I used the Cardmaker's Christmas Creative Pack again. I love how everything coordinates and it makes planning the card SO much easier. I just cut rectangles using my Purple Cow cutter instead of die cutting today. I also punched the snowflake from white glitter cardstock with my Nankong snowflake punch. The triple snowflake chipboard piece is from a holiday chipboard/tag set from Wal-Mart. I added faux white stitching around all the pieces, except for the lighter piece whick I did in navy blue. That is it. Nice and easy. I may have to make more of these for Christmas, especially when I am crunched for time. I gotta run. Have a great evening!

Caardvark's Sketchfest Tuesday

Good afternoon all,

Wow, I am definitely on a roll with posting. Today is another sketch for the Caardvark's Sketchfest( http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/09/sketchfest-tuesday.html) where they post a new sketch everyday and you have to get a card done that day to enter. I decided to do another Christmas card since I want to be ahead of the game this year. I pretty much followed the sketch exactly. The scan I made kind of warped the circle part, but what can you do. Lately, I have resorted back to scanning since my photos have been too dark and take too much time to download on our old computer. I just jazzed it up a bit by putting some matching cardstock in the background so it is not so boring. The main focal image is a cut-out from Cardmaker's Christmas Creative pack from Hot off the Press. I used postage patterned scissors to trim around it and then matted it on gold paper then black. All the other pieces are just matted with black. I used my Nesties for the circles. After adhering all the pieces I spritzed the whole card with Gold Glimmer Mist. Wow, I am on a roll. Two days in a row of posting. WooHoo! I love challenges, especially sketches. Today I am following the sketch from Caardvark's Cardfest Monday sketch (http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/09/sketchfest-monday.html). This one took me awhile because I knew what stamp I wanted to use and had to figure out how to work it all out. My sister's birthday is next week so I knew I was making her a birthday card. I picked this stamp because I love to send humorous cards to my sisters. I then had to find some paper that conveyed a "crazy" feeling. So that is the just of how this card came about. I pretty much followed the sketch as it is shown so I won't go into all the boring details. I did use my Nesties for the rectangles and the stamp is from TAC. The greeting on the left side was computer generated. If you are wondering how this works as a birthday card, the inside says "At least I didn't miss your birthday!" Corny, huh? I still think it works since the gal on the stamp is so darn cute. I have a lot of those days! LOL Thanks for stopping by.

Caardvark Challenge Sunday and Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge

Hi all!

I am feeling better today so I decided to try to tackle a couple of challenges. I like to try to do double duty on challenges when I can since time is in short supply these days. Today I am combining the Caardvarks Sketchfest Sunday challenge (http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/09/sketchfest-sunday.html) and Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge to use Fall colors(http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/2009/09/challenge-5.html). Obviously, I chose an Autumn theme since I was to use Fall colors anyway. I searched through my papers until I found some fall paper that I liked. Next I had to decide a focal image and knew right away that I had to use my matching leaf punch and stamps. The stamps are from Ye Olde Stamping Grounds which I have had forever. They made these stamps to go with the leaf punch from Punch Bunch. Well, I am getting ahead of myself. I made a card from rust cardstock. Next I cut a piece of patterned paper just a smidgeon smaller than the card and attached it to the card. Next I cut a strip of cardstock that matched the card and attached it 2/3 of the way down the card. I then cut a piece of patterned paper a hair smaller than the previous strip and attached it on top of the other strip. Oh, I am also antiquing the edges of the papers as I go. Next I used my oval Nestabilities die to cut the large oval from mustard-colored patterned paper. I then stamped 3 leaves on 3 different colored cardstock with matching inks and punched them out with the matching punch. I attached the leaves to the oval as shown. I then punched out some swirls and attached them to the oval as well. Now I attached the oval to the card. Lastly, I stamped the greeting and trimmed around it. I then mounted it on rust cardstock and trimmed a border. I attached it to the bottom right corner of the card. And that about does it. I must admit, however, that I am NOT ready for Fall. We are finally getting some gorgeous weather here in MI and I don't want it to get cold. The cold signals that winter is right around the corner. I do not relish the thought of snow. UGH! Well, enough of that negative talk since I should be grateful just to be alive and well. I must remember that God is good all the time, even when the weather is gloomy. Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and Moxie Fab Challenge

It's been a while since I posted. My bad! It was our first full week back in school with the students and I was whipped this entire week. Now I have a cold so not much better, but decided I needed to get a card made for my daughter who is off at college. Since it is her freshman year I thought this sentiment would be appropriate since she is about 2 weeks into classes now. And after talking to her this week I would definitely say "so far so good". Enough of my life and on to the card.

I like to do double up on challenges when I can since time is short. Today I combined Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #39(http://lordhavemercy-mercykerin.blogspot.com/2009/09/mercys-tuesday-sketch-challenge-39.html) with Cath's Moxie Fab Challenge to use some kind of household item/furniture in a paper craft(http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2009/09/you-asked-for-it-another-moxie-fab.html). When I read about the Moxie Fab challenge I remembered I had just bought a cute 6X6 pad of paper at a local scrapbook store that had paper with sofas in it. I decided to use that paper and had to figure out a theme for the card focusing on the sofas. That is when I thought of the saying, "Sofa" so good. It was perfect for my daughter so that is how the verse was born. I started by making a side-fold white A2 card. I then cut patterned paper to fit the whole front. I antiqued the edges with ink. Next, I cut the long rectangle from patterned paper and matted it with another piece of patterned paper with only the mat showing on the sides(cut off the top and bottom flush with the top rectangle). I again antiqued all sides with ink. Then I typed up the greeting on the computer and printed it in dark brown ink onto copy paper. I then die cut the red mat and the greeting with my Nestabilities using my Wizard die cut machine. I attached the white circle to the red mat with adhesive. I then attached my long rectangle piece to the larger paper and added a piece of rick-rack wrapped around to the back of the paper and attached with adhesive. Now I could attach that whole piece to the card. I then added the greeting piece to the right top of the long rectangle piece with foam adhesive on the right side and flat adhesive on the left(so the piece would sit right on the card). I had also antiqued the edges of the greeting pieces, too. The last step was to add the apoxy stickers to the top left of the rectangle. Now to get it off in the mail to my daughter. Mojo Monday 103 Contest

Hi all,

I am pleased to say that I survived my first week back in the classroom with the students! That is always a good feeling. Now on to my card for the Mojo Monday 103 Contest. Here is the link: http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2009/09/mojo-monday-103-contest.html

I already knew what stamp set I wanted to use for this card. My daughter just started her freshman year at Michigan and I wanted to make her a card to mail to her. She LOVES to read and so I had to make her a card related to that. The new set from MFT called "I (heart) Books" was perfect. I actually decided to turn the sketch so that my image fit better in the center space. I made a topfold black A2 card. I found paper that went along with theme(peace, love & literature) and attached it for the large background(Prima Marketing (You)th Collection). I then used a strip of hearts DP(Sassafras Sunshine Lollipops) to cover the seam. I then cut the 3 rectangle pieces from a coordinating paper from the same Sassafras pad. I edged all three pieces with black ink and attached to the card as shown. Next, I stamped the girl reading(MFT) onto white cardstock. I colored her in with my Copic markers. I stamped her again on DP(Prima Marketing "Makes Me Happy" Collection) and cut out just the book. I then stamped the girl again on a scrap of white cardstock and color/cut out just her hands. I attached the book to the first image of the girl and then attached the extra hands on top of the book. I then die cut the image with my Nestibilities Label 8. I edged it with black ink and colored the embossed edge with my cool gray Copic marker. I attached this central piece over the DP hearts rectangles. The last step was to stamp the greeting onto white cardstock with the black ink. I then cut the words apart and edged with black ink. I then attached the pieces with dimensional dots(Stampin'Up) so they stand out on the card. And that does it for this card. I sure hope my daughter likes it. I sure do miss her.

Moxie Fab World Christmas Card Challenge: Stamping

Yeah, I finally got a few minutes to get this card downloaded. I have had it done for several days, but with school/work starting back there has been no time. This challenge from the Moxie Fab World blog is to make a Christmas card using stamping. I was looking through my stamps and saw this adorable cow. I immediately thought of the Christmas carol and thought it would make a cute "pun" on a Christmas card. To start I made a white A2 card, top-folded. I then used 2 shades of ink to make the sky background using sponges. Next, I stamped my cows using Versamark onto glossy white sticker paper and embossed with black EP. Then I colored my cows with markers, adding shadows as well. Then I cut them out. The next step was to find a cloud that I liked. I finally found one in an old SU set, but it was kind of small. I first made a mask of the cloud and then stamped 3 clouds together using the mask to overlap. I then colored them making shadows and cut them out, too. I attached the two cows/clouds in the back flat to the card. The front cow/cloud was mounted with SU dimensionals. Then then added halos with a gold pen and stamped the "moos" with black ink. I used Microsoft Open Office to make the greeting and cut it out and matted on black. I mounted it at the top of the card. The very last step was to add glitter to the wings. This was a fun card to make and I do believe I will have to make some more. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Monday to you all,

I must say that I am a little depressed today. This my last day of summer break! I go back to work tomorrow for 3 in-service days before the students come back next Tuesday. Where did the summer go? *sniff*

Ok, now I better get on to my card. I made this card for the Moxie Fab World blog contest calling for Classy & Elegant. I couldn't decide which picture I liked better so I just downloaded both of them. Why is it that you can start with one idea bouncing around in your head, but by the time you finish the card it is nothing like what you first envisioned. Oh well, c'est la vie! I started this card with an A2 white card and cut a piece of beautiful swirly embossed designer paper to fit the entire front. Next, I wrapped a piece of silver satin ribbon around the DP and attached on back. I tied a big bow on the front, too. Then I took a piece of blue metal (Spellbinders) and embossed it with my new Impressabilities Snowflake. I ran it through the first time in a regular embossing sandwich(white plate, Impress., metal, tan embossing mat, and another white spacer plate). I then ran it through again without the Impressabilities die and flattened out some. I then sanded the whole piece to bring out the silver underneath. I proceeded to punch 3 squares from the metal and 3 larger squares from silver cardstock(Creative Memories punch). I attached the 3 metal pieces to the 3 larger square silver pieces. I then stamped the greeting(TAC) with clear embossing ink on white cardstock die cut with a Nestie and embossed it with silver EP. I also matted this piece with a silver piece of cardstock. I mounted the greeting onto the ribbon with adhesive. I then placed the 3 metal squares where I wanted them and attached them with strips of pop dots. And that is about it. Thanks for stopping by.

Another Moxie Fab World challenge and Sketch 71 from Triple the Sketch

Whew, I am just cranking out those Christmas cards thanks to the Moxie Fab World challenges this week. I love all the different challenges Cath has posed to us in these challenges. Here is the link if you want to join in the fun:

Now on with my card. If you click on the picture, you can see it up close for details. I started with a 5 1/2" square card made from textured white cardstock(DCWV). I ran it through my Big Shot with the Cuddlebug Snowflakes embossing folder. I had to run it through twice since the card was bigger than the folder. Next, I used my Wizard and circle Nesties to die cut my circles. The bigger circle is solid cardstock from DCWV and the smaller circle is from patterned paper from K & Co.'s Brenda Walton Peppermint Twist mat pad. I nested the circles and attached them to the right side of the card with a little bit hanging off. I trimmed off the part hanging off the card. Then I cut a strip of patterned paper (also from K & Co. same pad) and used a snowflake corner punch to embellish the end a little bit. I attached this on the bottom of the circles as shown. The next step was to add the "peace" sticker from daisyd's cardstock stickers, overlapping the strip and the circles. I then attached the snowgirl sticker(Provo Craft Stand-outs by Christina Cole) as seen above. I decided it needed a little something more so I added the faux stitch and trim lines on the smaller circle, "peace" sticker, and the strip. The snowgirl already had all the doodle lines on her. And that my friends is it. I thought this snowgirl was the perfect image for a fun card. When I found the "peace" sticker it was perfect since she kind of looks like a hippy anyway. :D Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

Moxie Fab World Shabby Chic Christmas challenge and 2 Sketches 4 You

Today I am combining challenges since my time before school/work starts back is quickly approaching. I decided to make a shabby chic Christmas card for the Moxie Fab World challenge(http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2009/08/stretch-your-holiday-style-vintage.html) and also the 2 Sketches 4 You blog sketch (http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2009/08/lauras-sketch-33.html ). I made an A2 card from cream cardstock and did a vertical fold. I then cut patterned paper to fit entire front of card(daisyd's) and inked edges to antique. Next, I attached the sticker to the top left side of card(Penny Black Stickeroos - White Christmas). I used a Q-tip to antique edges of sticker once it was attached to the card. I then made a frame from a paint chip sample of a wood stain using 2 sizes of Nestabilities dies. I attached the frame over the greeting on the sticker with pop dots trimmed to fit. Moxie Fab World Challenge: Clean and Simple

I decided to make a card for a challenge on making a clean and simple holiday card. This card was so easy I think I am going to make a bunch for this Christmas. First, I went through my stash of paper and found a blue with a shimmery finish(Target). I cut it to fit the entire front of my white card(A2). Next, I used my Sizzlet snowflake dies and my Tagalong machine to cut a bunch of snowflakes out of white glitter paper(DCWV). I randomly arranged them on the front of card and when pleased I glued them all down except for the large one above the verse. I used a pop dot to add a little dimension. I trimmed all the flakes that were hanging off the card. Lastly, I stamped the verse(TAC) in black. Done! MOJO Monday Sketch 101

It's that time again! Time for the newest MOJO Monday sketch post. I really like this blog. Their sketches are always fun and easy to replicate. Here is the link to this week's sketch:

For my card I decided to use this sketch to make my wonderful neighbor a "thank you" card. She gaves us a bunch of her tomatoes from her garden. They were so nice and juicy. I wanted to do something for her, but cooking isn't my forte. She is a great cook so I definitely knew that I couldn't return the favor with a tasty dish. I decided to make her a nice card instead. I made a 4" square card from white cardstock. Next, I cut a piece of patterned paper to cover the front. I then cut a piece of red DP to look like a ribbon to go across the middle of the card. I used a corner punch to add the detail to the end. I attached this with adhesive to the card. Then I die cut a rectangle with my Nestabilities from DP and attached it over the ribbon piece. I wanted to image to stand out so I decided to use a Nestabilities Label for the tomato to be mounted on. I kept it white to match the lattice in the DP. Oh, and I inked all the edges with green ink. I found a cute sticker in the DP pack and used it across the top of the card. For the inside, I mounted the same green DP with another red ribbon across the middle. I used another sticker that had a nice verse on it and then wrote a personal thank you for the tomatoes. I hope she likes it. I know that we sure did like the tomatoes! :D Thanks for stopping by.

MOJO Monday turns 100: Sketch 2

Hi everyone,

I made it back from Jamaica safe and sound. Truth be told I could have stayed there another month! But, alas, real life must resume. On the plus side, I got a card made tonight for my grand-niece. She is turning 4 tomorrow. I can't believe she is already that old. Time sure does fly. Anyway, on to the card. I decided to use the Mojo Monday turns 100-day 2 sketch. I had the image picked out and decided to turn the sketch so that my image would fit. First I stamped my "Magnolia" stamp onto white cardstock(Gina K) with Momento black ink. I was going to try out my Copic markers, but in the end I chickened out and used my brand new Koh-i-noor colored pencils. It was my first try at these and I must say they blend wonderfully with Gamsol. After coloring the image, I added some clear Stardust Gel pen highlights to the image. You can click on one of the images to see it closeup. I apologize for my photos. I am still learning all about taking pics of my cards. I had a hard time with glare, hence the weird angles. I then cut the image using my Nesties. I matted it and then cut all the matching papers (the glitter Sweet stack by DCWV) according to the sketch. I edged all pieces with Tattered Rose Distress ink by Ranger. I then added a glittering pink ribbon and attached the bow with a glue dot. I handprinted the greeting on the tag that the girl is holding. For the inside of the card, I mounted some matching DP and then mounted the greeting on top of it. That's about it. 2 Sketches 4 You - Kazan's sketch #32

Goodness, I am on a roll today! I guess I wanted to get some cards made before I go on vacation. This card is for Kazan's sketch #32 over at 2 Sketches 4 you blog. Here is the link to the contest: http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2009/08/kazans-sketch-32.html

Well, on to my card. It was a crazy process I went through to get this one finished. I also wanted to incorporate the challenge on "Scrapbooks and Cards Today" blog that is to use something green from your yard or at least from outside. I used a sprig from an Evergreen bush in my front yard as a stamp on one of my layers on this card. Can you tell which layer? :D Anyway, I played around with the sprig for awhile just seeing what would happen. I used Stampin' Up Forest Foliage ink and it turned out better than I expected. Then came the REAL challenge, trying to find paper to match that green! Since I used an evergreen I decided to make this a Christmas card since I haven't started on those yet this year. I had to go to the basement and dig through my Christmas stash until I FINALLY found some paper that would work with this dang green. It is K*ology paper by K & Company from who knows when. ; ) Ok, so now I trudge back upstairs to start layering. Gee, my sprigs were stamped onto more of a white background and this paper is beige. SO I find my Ranger Distressed Ink in Antique Linen and rub that all over the sprigs. Ah, that looks better. So I measure and cut all my layers, using a dark brown for the mats. Well, my poor sprigs looked boring on top of the DP so I added some little berries with a red gel pen. That helped some. I had stamped the greeting which is from Autumn Leaves with brown on that same white paper that I used for the sprigs. I then distressed the greeting with the Antique Linen so that it matched the background paper. Gosh, now my greeting looked boring next to all the DP SO I added coloring with assorted sparkling gel pens(gold, red, and green). Much better! The last thing I did was rummage some more through my ribbon drawer to find a nice wide ribbon that would match all this paper. I finally settled on this red with gold. I really didn't want a bow since I wanted a flatter card for mailing. If you click on the picture, you can get a better look at the shimmer on the card. And that is about it. I will definitely try another piece of greenery or flower from my yard. That was fun! I hope you enjoyed my card-making adventure and be sure to try using real greenery yourself.

MOJO Madness Entry

Hi all,

I finally got my mojo going last night and decided to make a card for Mojo sketch challenge. Here it is:

I really love this sketch. I immediately knew that I wanted to use my new "Serenity" stamp from Crafty Secrets. The next challenge was to find paper that went with the feeling I wanted to create. Basic Grey Periphery fit perfectly with my peaceful theme. I used my Nesties for the circles and squares. I just used Black Versafine ink to stamp the verse and scroll. I distressed the edge of the verse circle with blue chalk from Stampin' Up. I then wrapped the sheer gray ribbon around the base brown cardstock and attached on the back with adhesive. I then did a cheater bow using a piece of the gray ribbon, a thinner pale blue ribbon, and a two-toned blue/silver ribbon.

Gift card holder for Lil' Earle

Hey all,

I was able to get a few minutes in for making my nephew's gift card holder for his birthday. I can't believe he is going to be 10 in a few days. Anyway, here is how I made it.

First, I took an empty toilet paper holder and flattened it. (yes, I am trying to be "green" here!)

Next, I measured a piece of DP to fit around the tube with some extra overhang.

I then attached the DP with adhesive.

I then punched a large hole in the top through both layers with my Cropadile.

Next, I ran a piece of ribbon through both holes so that the holder hangs from the ribbon. I then took my gift card and placed on top of the ribbon that was going between the two holes in the middle of the holder. I pushed the ribbon down into the holder with the gift card until the gift card was hidden all the way down into the holder.

I then cut the ribbon so that it was at least 6 inches on both ends above the holder. I then tied a knot close to the ends as shown. I trimmed the ends so that they were nice and tidy.

Next, I stamped my image of the raccoon onto beige cardstock and cut him out.

I then punched a large tag from matching DP and a smaller tag from the beige cardstock.

I stamped the verse with brown ink onto the smaller tag.

I then punched a hole with my Cropadile through both tags as they were layered together. I ran another piece of matching ribbon through both holes to hold tags together. I then attached the tags to the holder with adhesive.

Next I attached the raccoon with pop dot so that he overlapped the tags a little. Just pull on the top ribbon and the gift card will pop up as shown in picture. And that is it. Nice and easy, but still has the WOW factor. Try it yourself and see how fun it is.

Another Graduation Card

Wow, can you believe it! I am posting again so soon. Miracles never cease. Anyway, here is another graduation card I just finished. It is for the brother of the young woman whose card I made in the previous post. I wanted to make it kind of artsy/eclectic since he graduated with an Art Education major and landed a job as an art teacher at a Voc/Tech. high school. He makes very contemporary paintings so this seemed up his alley. No stamping, can you believe it? I typed the quote in OpenOffice and printed it out. I then die cut it with my Nesties. The cute paper is from Cosmo Cricket's "Get Happy" 8X8 paper pad. I used my Tagalong to die cut the corner. I punched the little grad cap from black cardstock. I also edged everything with black ink. The inside is similar, but the papers are reversed with the dots as the mat to the verse and the red on the large bottom piece. That is about it. Thanks for stopping by.

Graduation Card

Hi all,

I am sorry to be so AWOL. It has been a crazy month. I finally finished this graduation card for our friend's daughter who just graduated from Wake Forest University with Honors. I wanted to make it personal so I actually diecut the picture of her college right from the announcement. I used my long rectangle Nestabilities for the picture and the greeting. The only stamping was the greeting which is a two part stamp that features the "outy" phrase for the outside of the card and the "inny" verse that goes inside the card. It is from My Sentiments Exactly. The inside verse says "Wishing you much success as you pursue your dreams and goals." I stamped it in VersaMark and embossed with fine silver embossing powder. I added the big flower and a ribbon over the corner. Now I need to get it in the mail. Thanks for stopping by.

MOJO90/Verve/QuicKutz challenges

Hi all. I have been MIA for a LONG time. So sorry about that. My job has kept me too busy to update my blog, but summer is almost here and I will have the summer off. YIPPEE! Enough about me and on to my post.

I combined several challenges into one card. Time is of the essence and I better make use of it. I used the MOJO90 sketch (http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2009/06/mojo-monday-week-90.html) for my layout. I also incorporated some Verve stamps, Hero Arts stamp and QuicKutz dies into it as well. My main image of the children marching is from Stampin' Up(retired). The navy stars on the red stripe and the main top stars are all from Verve stamps. The bottom layer has a Hero Arts star from the "Tiny Festive Backgrounds" LK008 set stamped tone on tone with red and navy. The star curvy cut, red gingham curvy cut and the tiny polka dot curvy cut on the bottom mat are all die cut from the QuicKutz "borders" die. I used my Nesties for the main squares in my Wizard. I added a star bling to the stamped top layered star. I wish you could see the colors better - scanning just doesn't do it justice. I gotta figure out how to download pictures to my pc so I can take "real" photos of my cards. Oh well, that will have to wait for summer. :D

This card is going to my Dad. His birthday is June 14, Flag Day. I figured what better design for his card than a nice patriotic theme. The vintage scene is very appropriate for my Dad. Happy 78th birthday, Dad.

Sketches by Tamara #69 - My card

Here is my take on Tamara's sketch #69. I just wish my scanner picked up all the glitter that is in the paper I used. This paper is from the Noah's Ark Collection by Debbie Mum at JoAnns. I just cut the paper into rectangles, edged it all with Tea Dye Distress Ink(Ranger) and attached a cute glitter puffy sticker onto the word piece. I added the sheer white ribbon and *voila* it's done! I needed a baby card for a shower I am going to Monday night. Thanks Tamara for a great sketch.

Jake's Halloween Card

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been AWOL again! Time is in short supply these days now that I am working full-time again. Anyway, I finally got some Halloween cards made this past weekend. This card is for my nephew, Jake, who is 2. I used the sketch from http://iheart2stamp.com for my inspiration. I knew I wanted to use my new Fall Glitter Stack of paper by DCWV. I used the paper on all pieces of this card except the stamped circle. The circle is stamped with a cute critter from Hero Arts Clear stamps. I first embossed the circle with a folder by Cuttlebug. I then stamped the critter. I used Twinkling H2Os to paint the critter and also to highlight the embossed edging. The two other pieces were just cut from the DCWV paper and matted on green paper. Father-in-law's 70th birthday

Hi everyone,

I had to make a birthday card for my Father-in-law tonight. I need to get it in the mail tomorrow. I have seen a lot of resist technique cards lately and decided to make his card using this style. I stamped the background with "seventy" and "70"(Inque Boutique) with Versamark. I embossed then with clear EP. Next I stippled Adirondack inks in Butterscotch, Denim, Pesto, and Rust. The greeting stamp is from Stampin' Up. I did the same resist on the greeting. I then matted with DP and cardstock. Added a ribbon from the Target Hot Spot. I start my new job tomorrow and I have decided to start back posting regularly on my blog. At least that is my goal! With a full time job I will have to prioritize my time and I decided that maintaining my blog has priority over blog surfing. I am going to post my cards now and just do what comes naturally to me instead of worrying about what is 'hot' now. Here is my card for today. My sister's birthday is next week so I figured I would start off by making her card today. I used Inkadinkado's mini clear set 98065 which I got for a dollar at Michaels. I stamped the image and saying with black Momento ink on watercolor paper. I colored the image with Prismacolor alcohol markers. I used my Nestabilities regular and scallop squares for the matting. The paper is from Making Memories Embellishment paper 6X6 pack called Cheeky Collection-Emery(except the brown which is a scrap). I inked all my edges with Ranger Walnut ink. The ribbon is from Stampin' Up. For the inside I used the saying from the same clear set as the front. I added the "How about yours?' is just handwritten with black marker. I added the 'happy birthday' which is from TAC. Sorry about the white space on the inside of the card. I had already signed it when I scanned it. I just wanted to cover up the personal stuff! Well, thanks for looking today and I hope that I can keep on task with my goal of posting regularly here on my little old blog. Have a great evening!

I totally agree with Christine's argument about word verification on blogs. It is annoying especially when you accidentally hit the wrong letter or misread the code and have to do it AGAIN. UGH!!! ARGUMENTS AGAINST WORD VERIFICATION
Everyone will have their own view, but in my case, I regard the removal of word verification as a basic courtesy to my visitors who are kind enough to take the time to leave comments. Being aware of their comments through comment moderation, but not hindering them with word verification is the very least I can do to reciprocate their courtesy to me.The problem with word verification is that it takes too long. The characters are very often hard to decipher, and it’s frustrating when you get them wrong and have to re-enter the little suckers!So this campaign is on behalf of busy bloggers. Please spare a thought for the poor bloggers who work so hard at getting round as many blogs as possible to leave sprinkles of blessing and good vibes wherever they go. The terrible proliferation of this awful plague of word verification is a blight on their efforts to make the Land of Blog a cheerier place.
I think most people don't realise that they have word verification on their blogs by default, or how easy it is to switch it off, and perhaps not realising how annoying it is for other bloggers. Either that, or they’re under the misapprehension that they will be bombarded with spam messages. This is not the case. I’ve had mine switched off now for three of the four months that I’ve been blogging, and have had two spam comments. The responses I’ve had from other bloggers to my earlier posts on this topic back this up. (You can see the comments in response to my previous post on this subject, HERE.)For safety’s sake, have comment moderation on for sure, but please consider canceling word verification on your blog. Maybe for a trial period, and see how you get on.Unless there are thousands of comments being left, comment moderation shouldn’t be too much of an issue for the blog owner, and other bloggers will also be more inclined to leave comments if they can see that you don’t use word verification.However, each to their own, and if you disagree with me, that’s cool. We can agree to differ and not visit each other’s blogs! lol ;o)
OK.. rant over. If you have read all the way to the end, thank you for putting up with it, and ~ obviously ~ do what you wish on your blogs, but I had to say something. I love to get around and leave comments, but word verification spoils the experience.
Of course, when I get my new job, all this will be academic to me, as I will then have a life, and I won't have time for much blog-hopping!! Not that blog-hoppers need to get a life.. Errr... think I'll stop digging now, before I get into REAL trouble!! lol ;o)

Dutch Dare Challenge 5 card

Hi everyone. Today I finally found some time to make a card for the Dutch Dare Challenge #5 (http://dutchdare-cardchallenges.blogspot.com/2008/07/challenge-5.html). The challenge this week was to use only 1 piece of Designer Paper. That was tough! I kept wanting to add some strips of contrasting DP and had to stop myself. I tried to add to the card by doodling and putting brads on. The paper is from Basic Grey Cupcake pack. I love this stuff! It is so cute. The stamps are from Clear Mini Stamps Bad or Fattening set by Inkadinkado. The circle is die cut with my Nestabilities. The greeting rectangle was hand trimmed with scissors. The edges of the card, DP and greeting were distress inked with Distress inks or Vintage Sepia Versafine. Thanks for stopping by.

I finally got a card made for Taylor's Cupcake challenge. I used a cupcake from Clearly Posh stamps and the greeting is from Gina K's "How Sweet It Is" set. I did a lot of layering on this one. The paper is all from Basic Grey's Cupcake paper pack. I used my Nestabilities to cut the circles for the cupcake image. I added lots of bling even though it is hard to see it in my scan. I used an Atyou Spica Copic pen on the cupcake paper to add some bling. I used my Dazzling Diamonds glitter from SU! on the main cupcake. I cut the cherry out separate and mounted it with SU! dimensional. I used Antique Linen Distress ink to distress the edges of DP. Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet! Card for Gina K's challenge

Here is my entry for the Gina K challenge this weekend. My details are provided on SCS. I used Gina's "How Sweet It Is" set for this card. I also used Basic Grey's Cupcake paper. I paper pieced the ice cream and added sparkly gel pen to the cherry and micro beads to the chocolate sauce. The spoon was colored with a silver gel pen. This was a fun sketch! Sentiment Only challenge

Wow, 2 posts in one day! I may actually get into blogging daily if I keep at this pace. LOL Here is my entry for the challenge given out on htt://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com The challenge was to use only a sentiment stamp - no other stamps allowed. I had fun with this one. It gave me a chance to use one of my Bible verse stamps. This one is from TAC. I actually cased this layout from my July Cardmaker magazine. I saw it and thought it would work well with a sentiment stamp. I actually positioned my verse in a different spot so it was not a total case. Plus I used totally different colors since the case was a Christmas card. All of the paper used is from DCWV. I got the flowers from Oriental Trading and the jewel brads are from Making Memories. It is basically just a lot of layering. I just used my paper cutter to make all the squares. I did use my Wizard and Nestabilities to do the verse mattings. I hate that my scan isn't the clearest, but that happens when I have thick embellishments on a card(the jewel brads). Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.

Sketch and color challenge card

Good morning,

I got a card done for 2 challenges. I had only so much time so I decided to kill two birds with one stone. LOL The challenges are Kazan's sketch 4 on http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com and the color challenge on http://paperpleasing.typepad.com using Night of Navy, Mellow Moss, and white. I started with a white card and cut a piece of Mellow Moss cardstock slightly smaller than the card front. I stamped the moss piece with a lacy leaf backgrounder (TAC) using Versamark. I then attached a piece of adhesive ribbon from K&Company across the bottom. Next I cut a rectangle out of Night of Navy and stamped it with the Linen Backgrounder (SU!) using Versamark. I then used my Martha Stewart scallop punch to make the bottom edge. I then made a large flower by tearing 3 graduated sizes circles from white cardstock. I crumpled them and distressed the edges flipping them up. I used the technique for the flowers that I saw on the above "Paper Pleasing" blog. I tore leaves from Mellow Moss and scored with bone folder. I attached a pearl button to the middle after attaching the layers with glue dots. I attached the flower to the top of the navy rectangle after attaching it to the card. Next I made smaller flowers(5) with pearl centers for the bottom row. I attached them with glue dots to the card. The last step was to tear and distress a smaller white rectangle for the greeting. I stamped the greeting (TAC) with Night of Navy ink(SU!). MMGKDMC Melanie's challenge

This is my entry for Melanie's Pick a challenge using SCS daily challenges. I used a whopping 4 challenges on this card. I used the sketch, scoring, suspension, AND limited supplies which had to be red, white, and blue. This was very tough because I had no Gina K patriotic stamps and I had limited red and blue combination paper that wasn't patriotic. I also could only have 4 layers and only use 4 tools/embellishments. This is what I came up with. I posted the details to the card on SCS. Dutch Dare contest entry

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July holiday weekend. We had a good time going to our town parade, watching fireworks, going kayaking, and working on our yard. It was a fun yet productive weekend.

Let's get to my card. I needed to make a card for my BIL and SIL. They recently moved into a new house in TN. I decided to use the sketch challenge posted on the dutch dare card challenge website.(Here is the link: http://www.dutchdare-cardchallenges.blogspot.com )

I started with a standard white A2 card. I cut a piece of blue cardstock to cover the entire front. Second, I cut a 3 7/16 X 4 1/2" piece of patterned paper and attached to blue piece. Then I cut a 2 7/8 X 4" piece of brown cardstock and layered this on top of the patterned paper. Next, I cut a 2 1/2 X 3 9/16" flowered patterned paper and attached it to the brown cardstock. The next step was to cut a 1 7/8 X 2 3/8" piece of green cardstock. I stamped the house image(TAC) with sepia Versafine. I stamped the image again on blue polka dot paper and cut out only the house. I attached the house to the image on the green cardstock. I then colored the image with Sakura Souffle gel pens. I set it aside to dry. While the image was drying I stamped the greeting(Magenta) with sepia Versafine on a strip of blue cardstock and attached it in bottom right portion of the flowered patterned paper. I also punched a flower out of the patterned paper, put a Cloud 9 flower rain drop in the center of the flower punch. I attached this circle to the bottom right corner of the card. After main image was dry I attached it to the bottom left corner of the card with dimensional foam pads. All pieces were edged with brown ink before attaching. It still needed a little something else so I pierced the top corners of the blue cardstock and only the bottom left corner of the image piece.

ink: Sepia Versafine; Close to Cocoa SU;

accessories: Sakura Souffle gel pens; Cloud 9 flower rain dots; Paper piercer with cork board(Timeless Touches)

Hi ya'll. Hope everyone is getting ready for their 4th of July celebrations. We are actually home for once on the 4th. We plan to go to our little town parade in the morning and then we will spend the evening at a local park. We will probably ride our bikes on the path and maybe play disc golf before the fireworks at dusk. The weather looks to be beautiful for this time of year in MI. As for the card, it is my entry for Laura's sketch 3 over at "2 sketches 4 you" blog. I needed to make a thank you note for our Couples Bible study leaders who graciously hosted almost every meeting even though they have 3 small children with one more on the way. She even made us all homemade strawberry jam. So naturally I am using paper with strawberries in it. The stamp is a dollar stamp from Canadian Maple Collections. I stamped it 3 times on white cardstock with Black Versafine. I colored with colored pencils and blended with a blender pen for pencils. I cut them out. I then wanted more pizzazz so I added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (SU) to them. To assemble the card, I first made the card out of bright green cardstock A2 size. Then I cut a piece of DP(K&Co.) to fit the whole front of card. Next I cut a strip of matching DP and attached across the middle of the card. Then I made the border on the right with a berry red piece of cardstock. I used my scallop border punch(Martha Stewart) to add the frills to it. I attached it then. I stamped "thank you"(Unity) on the green DP paper. I then attached the stamped strawberries onto the card. Two are mounted flat, but the one over the greeting is on a dimensional foam piece to raise it. The last thing I did was attach the little green bows to all 3 strawberries. Hope you like the card.
